So many students spend dozens of hours cracking through book after book without improving their score. Nature? Why? Because they're not understanding what their weaknesses are and focusing their time on their weaknesses. If you don't focus your time on your weaknesses, you won't improve! I write a lot more about this in my Perfect SAT Score guide, and that's how I designed our PrepScholar SAT program to do all the subjective, hard structural work for you. Harvard Essays? If you’re serious about score improvement, and you want to study with only books, this is the guide for you. Essay? We’re going to divide the best SAT books into a few categories: Critical Books : Must have books as part of your prep program, no matter your skill level or weaknesses. Subject Training Books : The best books to use to train Reading, Math, and Writing.

Books for school, Top Scorers : Books that will push you over essay, the top. Books for Low Scorers and Low Motivation : If you only duke essays want to study for 5 hours and essay improve a little bit, this is OK. Otherwise avoid. The #1 Book to Avoid : New for this year - a book I always used to recommend is now squarely in the Do Not Buy list. Find out which. Because the format of the test is changing so much, I do NOT recommend using Old SAT books to study for nature essay, the New SAT. While the tests are more similar than not, you can waste a lot of time studying for essay, the wrong thing, if you don't precisely know how the tests are different. Instead, use New SAT books, like the ones below, or use our PrepScholar SAT program. Harvard School Essays? We rebuilt the program from the ground up and dissected the test to understand it fully. These are books that I believe everyone should have, regardless of their current score, regardless of where they need to improve. Subjective? This is extremely hard to harvard business essays tips, qualify for, and in fact there are only two books out of dozens that I’ve tested: We’ve written at essay length about the importance of duke 2011 official SAT practice questions.

The SAT test is weird and essay tests concepts in ways that you’ve never seen in school before. This means that you need to train with realistic questions so you learn the thesis bulbi, patterns of the essay, SAT. Official SAT tests released by duke fuqua essays, the College Board are the gold standard for SAT practice questions. Each test released by the College Board contains real questions given to real students at essay previous administrations of the SAT. The quality of official questions is far better than questions written by unofficial sources like Kaplan and Barron's.

Even better — all of the Official SAT Practice Tests for the New SAT are FREE ! You can download the PDFs, then print them out to get the realistic on-paper testing experience. Visit our Complete Official SAT Practice Tests guide to download all the practice tests and answer keys for music, yourself. The best set of practice tests you can get anywhere, period - especially since the New SAT is so new. If you want to subjective, take a practice test, these are the does help, ones to use. Answer explanations are not helpful for self-learning for most students. Most of the explanations read like this: “A is wrong because A is wrong. B is correct for these reasons” rather than showing you how to solve the question from essay step 1. Thesis Bulbi? If you don't know strategies for how to approach reading passages or alternative math strategies, you'll need more help. Now that the Black Book has finally been updated for the New SAT, it's only other Critical book I'd recommend.

It’s not sufficient by itself, and even with the practice tests above you’ll likely need more supplemental help, as I explain below. Essay? But what it does have is so good that I believe every student studying only with books should read it. Does Doing Homework? What you’ll get from the Black Book is subjective, a way to think about the SAT. What does this even mean? Here are a few examples: You learn that the SAT is designed to be a predictable, standardized test . It needs to test basic concepts so that it can be administered nationwide to all students, but it also needs to thesis bulbi, make it difficult, so it distorts the subjective, questions in a weird way. Nature? The concepts in this book were things I understood intuitively when I took the SAT and was studying for a perfect score. It’s influenced the essay, way that I think about thesis bulbi, teaching our students at PrepScholar. Of all books on the market, this book aligns most closely with my personal philosophy on the SAT and how to succeed on it.

Very lucid take on the SAT. The ideas within will change your view on the SAT and hopefully motivate you to subjective, work harder, knowing that any student can excel on the SAT. Requires a ton of school essays tips self-discipline and insight to use effectively. Because you’re learning from your mistakes and no one is essay, there to guide you, you need to be self-driven to experiment with different strategies and find which one works best for you. For some students, following a set of straight guidelines could be less confusing. Once again, I highly recommend these two resources for all students studying purely through books.

We cover most of the essay romeo and juliet love, important concepts in the Black Book in our SAT prep program and essay provide focused practice on individual skills. As I mentioned above, most likely you'll need specific training on each subject to shore up your weaknesses. Next, we'll provide specific resources for essays, individual subjects. Want to subjective essay, improve your SAT score by 160 points? We've written a guide about the nature essay, top 5 strategies you must be using to have a shot at improving your score.

Download it for free now: Beyond the Critical books above, you’ll most likely need extra supplemental help on essay specific sections. The following section discusses the best books for Reading, Math, and Writing. Usefulness Of Science? These books all follow my SAT prep philosophy: divide SAT content into skills, and get focused training on those skills use realistic, high-quality questions that prep you well for the real SAT cover only what you need to know, not advanced material not on the SAT. In my experience with thousands of students, SAT Reading is the most difficult section to improve. It uses logical reasoning skills that aren’t as easily mastered as math concepts or grammar rules. Essay? It’s very important to drill down on what types of usefulness of science essay questions are asked, and how to approach these questions in subjective a systematic way. Help Doing Homework? My recommendation for best SAT Reading book is essay, The Critical Reader 2nd Edition, by Erica Meltzer . Nature Destruction Essay? This book dissects the SAT Reading section by question type and skill. She does a great job of teaching the core of what the question is subjective essay, asking, and how to duke, work with the passage to arrive at the correct answer. Subjective Essay? Of all writers, Erica Meltzer aligns most closely with my personal philosophy of drilling questions skill-by-skill to recognize patterns to questions. Great breakdown of the Reading section on a skill-by-skill level.

Helpful strategies for every type of question. Exactly the same approach we use in our PrepScholar program. Pricey for a book that covers just one section ($26-$35) My philosophy on SAT math is that the best way to significantly improve your math score is to learn the underlying math content . Getting familiar with the does help homework, questions and learning some simple strategies like ‘plug in the answer choices’ can get you a little progress, but you’ll quickly run into a ceiling if you have gaps in your underlying math skills. Your best bet is subjective, therefore to duke fuqua essays 2011, find a book that can both teach you math content in an organized way and subjective give you practice problems to focus on thesis bulbi individual skills. It should also tailor to your skill level , since math questions that are too hard or easy for you are a waste of time. For these reasons, I recommend Steve Warner’s series of SAT Math books . He has multiple books out for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced students, as well as a set of essay 240 SAT Math problems organized by topic and difficulty. Lessons teaching math concepts are clear and helpful. They suggest ways to thesis bulbi, speed up how you solve questions and subjective identify what the question is school, really asking.

The books split into the College Board's 4 major topics – Heart of Algebra, Geometry and Trig, Passport to Advanced Math, and essay Problem Solving and Data. This is too broad. I prefer splitting these larger topics into even more specific subjects - for example, within Algebra, PrepScholar teaches linear functions, single variable equations, systems of equations, and essay romeo and juliet love more. By focusing on each skill, you are able to more accurately pinpoint your weaknesses and drill them. Subjective Essay? If you’re really struggling with math at a basic level (say, scoring 500 and below), I’d recommend that you supplement your work with Khan Academy’s math modules. It’s a free program and 2011 it provides an engaging way to essay, train your most basic skills. Thesis Bulbi? I believe the core Khan Academy program has better instruction than their SAT prep program, even though it's not focused on the SAT. The best way to excel at SAT Writing is to understand the grammar rules and how they appear on the SAT.

Then, you need to subjective essay, do a lot of focused practice questions to make sure you learn the patterns of the SAT. That’s how we designed our PrepScholar online program to teach you grammar. Essay? Once again, I’m returning to Erica Meltzer for subjective essay, her SAT Grammar books . Erica’s fantastic at distilling all of grammar into what you need to know for the SAT. Thesis Bulbi? You won’t learn arcane grammar concepts that aren’t tested. For the rules that are tested, she presents them clearly and covers the foundation if you’ve forgotten the grammar rule from school. Unlike her Reading book, for Writing she has two books . Subjective Essay? The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar covers all the grammar rules you need to thesis bulbi, know. The SAT Grammar Workbook gives hundreds of practice questions as training material.

Neither book is sufficient on its own, which is a big drawback. The first book doesn’t have enough questions to really drill the grammar rules. Essay? The second book doesn’t teach the grammar rules, and the questions aren’t organized by essay and juliet love, grammar rule. This really complicates the studying for the student, but I still believe this is the subjective essay, best Writing-focused book out there. Clear writing and articulation of grammar rules. There's no guidance on study strategy. It's a nice breakdown of the SAT, but you don't get instruction on HOW to use the book to best maximize your score. Reading cover to cover isn't the most effective way. Learn more about focusing on your writing weaknesses in does help homework my Perfect SAT Writing Score guide. Once again, the subjective essay, price is high - $50 to $60 for both books . Does Music Homework? It’s good content, but I believe she could get a lot more customers by subjective, lowering her prices.

Bonus: Looking for the very best guides to usefulness of science essay, every SAT section? Check out our top guides for subjective, every single section of the SAT. Choose the score level you're aiming for: Choose these guides if you're scoring a 600 or above on a section, and you want to get the highest SAT score possible. Choose these guides if you're scoring below a 600 on a section, and you want to boost your score to at least a 600 level. These are the very best guides available on boosting your SAT score, section by section. Thesis Bulbi? They're written by Harvard grads and perfect SAT scorers. Don't disappoint yourself - read these guides and improve your score today. Best Additional Book for Top SAT Scorers. With all the books above, you already have your work cut out for you.

With 8 full-length practice tests and 5+ books at your disposal, you will be studying for well over 50 hours. If you go through all your practice using the guidelines we recommend, you’ll likely have made huge improvements. Subjective? If you still want additional practice, I recommend the Barron’s SAT books , especially if you’re aiming for near a perfect score. I remember using these books during my own prep in high school, and while their questions are inferior to thesis bulbi, real SAT practice tests, they’re a good backup source when you finish everything else above. A lot of content. Thousands of practice questions and detailed lessons with many examples.

Topics can get too difficult for what you need to know on the SAT. Some questions are too hard in the wrong way – they can get unrealistically hard in a way that you’d never see on the SAT. If you’re not an SAT expert yet, you won’t be able to detect when this happens and you can waste time studying things that don’t matter. Best All-In-One Book for subjective, Less-Motivated Low Scorers. My recommendations have so far been for the ambitious student who really wants to improve his or her score. I know there are some students who just want to essay romeo and juliet and hate, put in 5 hours, get some exposure to the test, and then take the subjective, SAT and forget about it.

I personally believe that for most students, improving your SAT score is, hour for hour, the best way to improve your chances of college admission. So I would say that if you feel this way, you should question your philosophy. But if you’re stuck in this mindset, the book I would recommend is Kaplan’s SAT book . It’s an all-in-one book that covers the harvard business school essays tips, three sections and contains practice questions and practice tests. It doesn’t excel at any of what it’s doing , but it covers the important bases. It also tends to have more reasonable content than other all-in-one books like Princeton Review. I don’t love this book. I don’t even really like it. Subjective? I don’t recommend it if you at all want to improve your score seriously and nature destruction essay are willing to put in study time. But if you just want a single source that can do an OK job and is easily digestible, this is the essay, best one out there. Usefulness In Modern Essay? Covers all three sections and contains practice tests. Subjective? Practice questions tend to be unrealistic – they often don’t phrase questions the way the SAT would, and they don’t test concepts in essay the right way.

The questions also don’t trick you in the same ways that the SAT does. Subjective? Want to improve your SAT score by 160 points? We've written a guide about the duke essays, top 5 strategies you must be using to have a shot at improving your score. Download it for subjective essay, free now: The #1 SAT Prep Book to AVOID Buying. Unlike every other section on this guide, I'm making one specific recommendation against buying a book. This is unusual because, prior to 2015, this is the #1 book you would DEFINITELY buy. College Board's Official SAT Study Guide, 2018 Edition.

It feels really weird to music help doing, recommend NOT buying this book, because for years and year, this was THE book to use to study. It used to contain 10 practice tests that you could get only through buying this book. Why release these tests for free? This is all part of College Board's moves to make the essay, test more accessible and to reduce educational inequality. This is great and I support them - but it also means the thesis bulbi, Official SAT Study Guide is subjective, now a waste of money . The educational material outside of the harvard school, practice tests is very superficial and unhelpful (we've written far better guides on subjective Reading, Math, and Writing - all online and free). Has eight practice tests pre-printed for you, so you don't need to print them yourself. Everything in this guide is duke fuqua, available for free online. More important than buying the books is knowing how to use them effectively. The more books you have, the more important it is to understand how to build a unified study system.

Just to explore all our options, let's quickly examine whether book studying is right for you.

People who choose to study by books do so for different reasons. Some so it for cost reasons. As I noted above, the best SAT books can get expensive. If you buy all the top books, you'll be spending around $200 . This is already close to the cost of our online SAT prep program, which goes beyond books by guiding your study step-by-step and and motivating you to put in study time. Others study with books because they're self-motivated, and they like teaching themselves. If this isn't you, books can be a disappointing way for you to spend time and not improve . If you don't have good study strategy, you can put in dozens of essay hours and make zero improvement, because you're not understanding your weaknesses and solving them. A few to check out: 143 thoughts on “ How to Write an Artist’s CV in 10 Steps ” Thanks so much, great information. really great,, I was struggling on puting one together, The information online is of science in modern life essay very conflicting when it comes to subjective artists CV’s. thia article only applies to artists with sufficient experience and various accomplishments such that this article would provide no value, with no usefulness or relevance to fuqua essays 2011 artists who are seeking advice on subjective essay, creating a resume. Hi Bradley– I’d be happy to give you other suggestions for your artist CV. What kind of artistic experience do you have, and what were you thinking of including on your CV?

What would you reccommend to school write in an unexperienced artist?s cv? I don?t even have shown my work in a gallery, do you think it is subjective a must to do this? What would be the essay romeo and juliet, previous steps to writing a cv? I am interested in applying for a contest but I always end up not applying because of the cv. Wow. This blog is such a fantastic resource! I am thrilled to have found it this afternoon! Cheers! If you are creating a resume for an art teacher position, do you still include all the info you pointed out? Or do you create more of a standard resume (objective, job history, etc.)? Do they want to see if your work has been in galleries, etc?

Hi Tanya, I would still use all the info listed above, but perhaps pare it down to subjective include only the “highlights.” Then you can also include standard employment info from a regular resume, as well as references. Does Doing Homework! Cheers! Thanks for the info. Also, should I put experience first, then the highlights of CV? Also, is their a max for essay number of pages, because I know on my standard employment resume you shouldn’t have more than 2 pages. Apologies for the delayed reply!

I agree experience first and then CV highlights. I’d keep it to 2 pages if possible, but if the position you are applying for is prestigious or highly competitive, they would probably appreciate more information. For example, the thesis bulbi, CVs of many scholars are pages and pages long! Thank you. If you want to note that certain shows were juried, I would just put a note at the end of those entries. Love And Hate! Copyright and Fair Use in the UMUC Online or Face-to-Face Classroom. The information presented here is only general information. Legal advice must be provided in subjective essay, the course of an of science in modern essay attorney-client relationship specifically with reference to subjective essay all the facts of the particular situation under consideration. Such is not the case here, and accordingly, the information presented here must not be relied on as a substitute for obtaining legal advice from a licensed attorney. Updated January 28, 2011. Consistent with BOR Policy IV-3.20, the UMUC Library has developed guidelines for the use of copyrighted materials. These guidelines address library and educational fair use as well as fair use exceptions for research and scholarly work.

The purpose of this document is to help UMUC faculty understand copyright and fair use in the classroom, and it may be useful to UMUC students as well. The UMUC Library addresses copyright and intellectual property issues because of its role in teaching and promoting information literacy. Information literacy is nature destruction essay, defined as a set of subjective essay abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information (Association of in modern essay College and Research Libraries, 2010, para. 1). Subjective Essay. One of the information literacy competency standards of the Association for College and Research Libraries concerning the effective use of information states that “an information literate individual is able to duke 2011 . understand the economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of information, and access and use information ethically and legally” (ACRL, 2010, para. 2). Simply put, copyright is a legal device that provides the creator of a work of art or literature, or a work that conveys information or ideas, the essay right to control how the work is used (Fishman, 2008, p. 6).The intent of copyright is to advance the progress of knowledge by giving an author of business essays tips a work an economic incentive to create new works (Loren, 2000, para. 12). Tangible, original expressions can be copyrighted.

This means, for example, that a verbal presentation that is not recorded or written down cannot be copyrighted. However, anything that is tangible can be copyrighted. There are three fundamental requirements for something to be copyrighted, according to the United States Copyright Office (2008, p. 3): Fixation: The item must be fixed in some way. The manner of fixation may be just about anything. For example, fixation occurs if something is written on a piece of paper, posted online, or stored on a computer or phone, or on an audio or video device. Originality: The work must be original. Originality includes a novel or a student's e-mail message to a professor. Both are considered examples of original expression.

It is not necessary for the work to be completely original. Works may be combined, adapted, or transformed in new ways that would make them eligible for copyright protection. Minimal Creativity: The work must include something that is subjective, above and beyond the original. Verbatim use is not considered original. Reference to the original work that is used to discuss a new concept would be considered original, however. Essays. Creativity need only be extremely slight for the work to be eligible for subjective essay protection.

The law merely states this is original works of authorship (United States Copyright Office, 2008, p. 3). Works in the public domain: Ideas are in the public domain. Essays. Facts are in the public domain. Words, names, slogans, or other short phrases also cannot be copyrighted. However, slogans, for example, can be protected by essay, trademark law. Destruction. Blank forms. Government works, which include: Judicial opinions. Subjective Essay. Public ordinances. Administrative rulings.

Works created by federal government employees as part of their official responsibility. Works for which copyright was not obtained or copyright has expired (extremely rare!) (U.S. Copyright Office, 2008, p. 3). It is a common misperception that state employees and contractors performing work on doing homework behalf of the federal government cannot copyright their work. Unless it is explicitly stated in the contract between the government and a contractor, federal government contractors are permitted to subjective essay copyright their works as can state employees (Commerce, Energy, NASA, Defense Information Managers Group, 2008, p. 19). Copyright provides authors fairly substantial control over thesis bulbi, their work. The four basic protections are: The right to make copies of the work. Essay. The right to sell or otherwise distribute copies of the duke fuqua 2011 work. Essay. The right to prepare new works based on the protected work. The right to perform the protected work (such as a stage play or painting) in public (U.S.

Copyright Office, 2008, p. 1). Fair use is the most significant limitation on the copyright holder's exclusive rights (United States Copyright Office, 2010, para. 1). Fuqua 2011. Deciding whether the use of a work is fair IS NOT a science. There are no set guidelines that are universally accepted. Instead, the subjective individual who wants to use a copyrighted work must weigh four factors: The purpose and character of the use: Is the new work merely a copy of the original? If it is simply a copy, it is not as likely to be considered fair use. Does the new work offer something above and thesis bulbi beyond the original? Does it transform the original work in some way?

If the essay work is altered significantly, used for another purpose, appeals to a different audience, it more likely to be considered fair use (NOLO, 2010, para. 6). Recent case law has increasingly focused on transformative use to make fair use determinations – for a discussion of nature destruction this topic see Lultschik, 2010. Is the use of the copyrighted work for nonprofit or educational purposes? The use of copyrighted works for nonprofit or educational purposes is more likely to be considered fair use (NOLO, 2010, para. Essay. 6). The nature of the copyrighted work: Is the copyrighted work a published or unpublished work? Unpublished works are less likely to be considered fair use. Is the nature destruction copyrighted work out of print? If it is, it is more likely to be considered fair use.

Is the essay work factual or artistic? The more a work tends toward artistic expression, the less likely it will be considered fair use (NOLO, 2010, para. 9). The amount and substantiality of the portion used: The more you use, the less likely it will be considered fair use. Does the amount you use exceed a reasonable expectation? If it approaches 50 percent of the entire work, it is not likely to be considered a fair use of the essay romeo love and hate copyrighted work. Subjective Essay. Is the particular portion used likely to adversely affect the author's economic gain? If you use the heart or essence of a work, it is less likely your use will be considered fair (NOLO, 2010, para. 13).

The effect of use on the potential market for the copyrighted work: The more the new work differs from the original, the less likely it will be considered an infringement. Nature Essay. Does the subjective essay work appeal to the same audience as the original? If the answer is yes, it will likely be considered an does help infringement. Does the subjective new work contain anything original? If it does, it is more likely the use of the nature copyrighted material will be seen as fair use (NOLO, 2010, para. Subjective Essay. 11). What are the Rules for Fair Use for Instructors? Copying by instructors must meet tests for brevity and spontaneity: Brevity refers to fuqua essays 2011 how much of the work you can copy.

Spontaneity refers to essay how many times you can copy and how much planning it would take to otherwise seek and obtain permission from a copyright holder (U.S. Copyright Office, 2009, p. 6). According to usefulness of science in modern essay the rule, the need to copy should occur closely in time to the need to use the copies. If you use something repeatedly, it is less likely to essay be considered fair use. The expectation is that you will obtain permission from the copyright holder as soon as it is feasible. Using something over a period of multiple semesters or years is not within the homework spirit of the fair use exception. In addition, there are recommendations for what the U.S. Subjective. Copyright Office calls special works. Certain works in poetry, prose, or in ‘poetic prose’ which often combine language with illustrations and which are intended sometimes for children and at other times for a more general audience fall short of 2,500 words in their entirety (U.S. Copyright Office, 2009, p. 6).

Special works should never be copied in their entirety. An excerpt of duke fuqua no more than two pages or 10 percent, whichever is less, is the essay rule for special works (U.S. Copyright Office, 2009, p. 6). The use of the copies should be for one course at one school. The copies should include a notice of copyright acknowledging the author of the work (U.S. Copyright Office, 2009, p. 7). UMUC recommends that its faculty and instructors consider both the special guidelines for instructors and business school essays take into account the essay four factors that are used to business essays evaluate fair use when they are deciding what and subjective essay how much of a copyrighted work to use.

In General, What Counts as Fair Use? Making multiple copies of different works that could substitute for essay the purchase of books, publisher's reprints, or periodicals. Copying and using the same work from semester to semester. Copying and using the same material for business several different courses at the same or different institutions. Subjective Essay. Copying more than nine separate times in a single semester (U.S.

Copyright Office, 2009, p. 7). When you intend to use the and juliet and hate materials for commercial purposes. Subjective Essay. When you want to use the nature essay materials repeatedly. When you want to use a work in its entirety, especially when it is longer than 2,500 words (U.S. Copyright Office, 2009, p. 7). How Do I Get Permission? How Can the Library Help?

Collecting relevant data, analysis and fuqua essays 2011 drawing conclusions using the data as evidence can test these.

The width of a river will increase as you move from the source to the mouth The amount of traffic will increase as you move from the rural-urban fringe to the CBD The amount of vegetation will increase as you move inland from the sea (distance = 200metres) The hottest part of the day will be between 1200 and 1400. Whenever you are doing data collection, the subjective aim is to be as objective as possible. Objective means that no bias or personal opinion affects the outcome of your results. The opposite to be objective is fuqua 2011 being subjective. Being subjective simple means that your own personal views and bias has influenced results. It is up to date (current) You know how the data has been collected i.e. what technique It only includes data that is relevant to your coursework It only covers your study area It is subjective collected in the format that you want. The data may include some personal bias Data collection can be time consuming It can be expensive to travel to places to collect data It is hard to study temporal changes Some data might be unavailable or too dangerous to collect Only possible to cover a small area.

It is out of date, especially if it has been printed in a book. There might more information than you need The information may include a larger area than your study area You may not know how the data was collected and who collected the data The data might be in the wrong format e.g. in a graph and not raw figures. Quantitative data: This is any data that involves figures. Quantitative data is duke fuqua 2011 very easy to present and analyse. Even though it is essay easy to present it can be very general and exclude some data.

Because you are following a pattern you will get better coverage of an area or sample group. Even though you pick the technique, once it is picked, there is thesis bulbi no bias in who gets selected. It is very simple to essay, understand and carry out. Because you are selecting the systematic technique, there is some bias (subjectivity). You decide how often to take a sample. Even with a systematic sample you may end up with an unrepresentative sample e.g. you ask every 10th person to fill in harvard business tips, a questionnaire, but every 10th person turns out to be female. Every person or every location/place has a completely equal chance of subjective being selected It is essay love and hate quick and subjective simple. However, if you know the average income of subjective essay those 12 areas (census data) you can them rank them 1 to essay and juliet, 12 and subjective essay then randomly or systematically pick a district from each quartile giving you a more representative sample. Decide on your questions (what do you need to find out and what type of question are you going to ask) Whether to do the questions orally or give them in written form (you may have to think about translations) How you are going to nature destruction essay, pilot (test) your questions How you are going to record the answers (record them, write them down, trying to essay, remember is unreliable) How you are going to sample (random, systematic, stratified) Remember that you are representing yourself and essays 2011 the school - be polite Remember people don't have to answer questions and they may be sensitive about some e.g. age groups and subjective income groups. When actually designing your questions you have two real choice; open or closed: You are getting the thesis bulbi respondents personal opinion. Subjective Essay. They are not limited in their response. Some responses might not be relevant to your research Respondents may not understand the question and give you an irrelevant response Results are very hard to analyse using graphs or tables.

All answers will be relevant to your research The results are easy to analyse using graphs and harvard business school essays tables. The results lack personal opinion. Essay. They can be very generalised You are nearly always forced to thesis bulbi, have an essay other box meaning you don't know what the respondent thinks Your personal opinion has been placed on the questions (subjective). Specification: Observation – Examples of nature destruction using observations as an enquiry skill to subjective, collect data include the recording of harvard essays land-use in an urban area or observations of river or coastal features. Maps, recording sheets, field sketches and annotated photographs may all be used to record candidate observations. It is important to always have an other category, because you always find a land use that you have not thought about. They are more accurate than field sketches They can be good for showing data collection techniques e.g. measuring a river's load They can support data collection findings e.g. they can show an essay example of a poor environment They can show temporal changes, especially if you can find historical photos. You can annotate and label them.

People often include photos that are not relevant e.g. a photo of their friends People forget to thesis bulbi, label, annotate or refer to photos, which then makes them irrelevant. Subjective Essay. People often only photograph the nice things e.g. pretty view and forget the thesis bulbi more ugly areas that are just as important e.g. Essay. area of pollution They can often contains too much information e.g. people and vehicles Because they are two dimensional, depth can be deceptive. Specification: Counts – Pedestrian and traffic counts are two significant examples of this enquiry skill. Appropriate methods for recording the counts should be discussed including the layout of recording sheets, instructions and the necessary information required to identify the sheet following the count (i.e. time, date, location and name of essay romeo recorder). Geography fieldwork equipment can be used to measure virtually anything, but is most commonly used to take measurements along a river or at subjective essay, a beach. Below are photos and of science descriptions of subjective essay some of the most common types of geography equipment. Transect: A transect is basically a line a long which you take measurements.
